Like Les Deux Magots, Angelina is another iconic establishment known for their hot beverages and appetizing pastries. In the late 1800's, the Rumpelmeyer family opened these "tearooms" all along the Cote d'Azur or the French Riviera as some know it by. The famous Paris location opened in 1903 as Rumpelmeyer but in 1930 the name was changed to Angelina, paying tribute to the owner's daugther-in-law.
Be prepared to wait in a long line. We opt-out of eating/drinking at "the salon de thé." Instead, there was an outdoor cart serving their famous le chocolat chaud l'Africain in to-go cups. It is quite comparable to the hot chocolate at Les Deux Magots. It was one of those scenarios you wish you had a side by side comparison. Thicker and more rich than American hot cocoa, it still has the delicious notes of what a classic hot chocolate should taste like. Despite how busy it can be, its still worth going inside the building and witnessing the exquisite interior architecture.
